Walworth and AHR Dominate at Paradise
8/26/06
Mother nature was threatening all night long with dark skies and light sprinkles, but some people thought the sun was coming back up at 9:30 at night when the NYMM Series took the checkered flag. A streak of yellow cars, the trademark color of Team AHR, came down the front stretch 1, 2, 3, and 4. Jeb Walworth (74) brought home his 7th win of the '06 season followed by Timex Morgan (2) and new AHR member Ray Sand Jr (1) who would later have his third place finish taken away due to a 1/4 inch to wide rear end. All three drivers won their respected heats earlier in the evening. The biggest story of the night was Zack Morgan (7) who started 16th and came through the pack to take the 4th spot. "The car was just flying"- Z.Morgan said. Morgan used some great driving when a multi car pileup occurred right in front of his front bumper. Morgan was able to maneuver around the bottled up cars and escape unharmed, and now in the front of the pack. Zack probably could have given the top cars more of a run, but had to battle for position with the #27 of Ron Gamble for much of the race. Gamble, who has come on strong late in the season, grabbed his second straight Top 5 finish. Just as bad as Zack Morgan was trying to catch up to his father Timex, Ben Kysor (34) had everything he could do to keep his father Ben Kysor (43) from catching him. It was a much different result for Ben, who just a few weeks prior was taken off the track in an ambulance after taking a horrific crash. There was no hesitation in Ben's driving Saturday night with his top 5 finish and capturing his heat earlier in the night. Dad just didn't have enough this night, as Greg settled for 6th place behind son Ben. Another AHR driver was able to crack the Top 10 as Kevin Pimm (3) captured his 8th Top 10 finish this season. It also marked the last race for Pimm as he will be heading off to the NASCAR Technical Institute. Following Pimm was the #57 of Marty Jenkins in the 8th spot, which was his best NYMM feature finish in 2006. Long time Paradise regular Randy Wise (01) took home his best feature NYMM result in '06 as well. Rounding out the top 10 was rookie Nick Cooper (15n) who continues to impress with his late season push in points.
As with most holidays, the NYMM Series will take a break to let their drivers spend some quality family time. The Winged Warriors will then return for a huge weekend that starts off Friday September 8th at the Ransomville Speedway (Ransomville, NY). The Winged Warriors will dare the 1/2 mile Friday night, and then pick up for a Saturday race at the 4/10 mile Black Rock Speedway (Dundee, NY) as part of the Bully Hill show.
