As the heat broke in New York no one told the NYMM Series, as they were still hot at Freedom Raceway in Delevan, NY on Friday, August 4th. Early in the evening a dedication was made for Paul Krotje, where Timex Morgan represented the series joining other cars on the back straightaway for the national anthem. Seventeen registered cars made up 3 heats where Jeb Walworth, Dan Miller and Randy Brokaw, respectively won their heats.
As the seventeen Winged Warriors took to the track, the crowd went wild during the four wide salute to the fans. The crowd started to settle down as Kevin Pimm and Zack Morgan lead these racers to take the green flag as the show began. If you weren't there you missed on heck of a race, as hard charging Scott Kreutter and Timex Morgan came flying thru the pack, giving a true meaning to Winged Warriors- providing a four way battle for first place between Pimm, Morgan, Kreutter and Morgan.
The only caution of the night was brought out on lap 3 when Zack Morgan had to be towed off the track for mechanical issues. By lap 14 out of 20 laps, three other cars lost the cause due to mechanical reasons, each driving off the track on their own accord.
The battle continued for Timex Morgan and Scott Kreutter as they kept passing each other in the fight for first place. As this was happening, fans were on their feet not knowing which way to look as another battle for third place was on- Dan Miller, Jeb Walworth, Tatters Kysor and Kevin Pimm all fought for that position, at one time going 3 wide thru the front straightaway. What a spectacular sight to see! There were clusters of cars vying for different positions thru out the track. Morgan only half a car ahead of Kreutter took the checkered flag. In a true show of sportsmanship, Kreutter met Morgan at the winner's circle to congratulate him. This was Morgan's 2nd win in the NYMM Series, only to hand it back over to Kreutter due to a disqualification for a technical issue.
Once again it was another incredible night of racing by the New York Modified Midget Drivers. Rounding out the top 5 are Kreutter, Tatters Kysor, Jeb Walworth, Dan Miller and Kevin Pimm.
