Drivers need to understand that the random teched car that is chosen by the NYMM Series Officials will NOT be torn down every time. The standard tech items like wheelbase, fuel as well as maybe the wing measurements etc, will be the most common random tech items performed. The NYMM Series Officials will only use a tear down on a last resort must inspect due to suspicion item. In the very rare event that a tear down must be completed, if the motor is found to be legal, the cost of the tear down will be covered by the NYMM Series. I have been instructed that better procedures need to be put into place IF and when any other tear downs are to take place. The thought behind the random tech was due to the very common and systematic tech system used. Top 3, Top 5, etc. to tech. This allows a driver to run well, but to finish outside the required tech positions with an illegal car. I am trying to reduce the amount of information that is sent over the one-way as we are using the common channel at most tracks now and feel it is not fair to announce all the cars required to tech over the one-way.
